Tips for writing your resume

  1. Keep it short. Try to keep to one or two pages only.
  2. Use a "normal" email address in your contact details. Avoid unprofessional emails like lovemachine@hotmail.com
  3. Check spelling and grammar carefully. Then check it again. Then ask a friend to check it for you. A badly written resume can immediately put off a potential employer.
  4. Be honest in your resume. Do not exaggerate your skills, experience or qualifications.
  5. Show the employer you have thought about their needs. Emphasise skills and experience that are relevant to the job you are applying for.
